The Spirit has cast a new light on the Atonement and I am going to study all the scriptures I can about it in this new light of understanding. In simple and obvious terms the Atonement was wrought at least in part because the Lord doesn't want us to return to Him with the sins, sorrows, pain, anguish and all the negative things of earth life. He wants us in the Celestial Kingdom free from these things which are a necessary part of our crucial earth experience. So you see, we should utilize the atonement in this life not just later on. This was a wonderful "revelation" to me.
